Extra service – Feast of Nossa Senhora do Monte
Horários do Funchal will be adding extra service to route 021 – Monte (via Largo da Fonte) during the festivities honoring Nossa Senhora do Monte, the Patroness of Madeira, providing a convenient and sustainable alternative for traveling between Funchal centre and Monte.
The extra trips from centre will depart from the regular bus stop for routes 020 and 021, located at the beginning of Rua 31 de Janeiro, heading to Largo da Fonte. The trips to centre will take the reverse route via Corujeira de Dentro.
On August 14, trips from centre will run between 6:00 PM and 1:00 AM on August 15, while trips to centre will run between 7:00 PM and 4:00 AM on August 15. On August 15, there will be trips from centre between 9:30 AM and 6:00 PM, and trips to centre between 10:30 AM and 6:30 PM.
All valid transport tickets for route 021 will be accepted, including onboard tickets purchased during the trip, prepaid tickets, Funchal municipal passes, and intermunicipal passes.
Alongside the additional service, the regular operations of routes 020, 021, 022, and 048 will be maintained. On August 15, the service made is the Sundays and holidays timetable.
It is also important to note that, in accordance with Notice No. 504/2026 from the Funchal City Council, temporary changes to the bus routes will be implemented during the following periods:

Regarding route 022 – Babosas, it will maintain its normal itinerary until 12:00 PM (noon) on August 14, resuming it at 7:00 PM on August 15. During this period, Largo de Santa Teresinha will serve as the departure and arrival point for the route.
With this extra service, Horários do Funchal reaffirms its commitment to promoting more convenient, safe, and sustainable mobility, helping residents and visitors travel to the festivities practically and without worrying about parking.

During these periods:
- Route 020 – Monte (via Corujeira de Dentro) will take its regular itinerary up to Tanque, continuing via Largo da Fonte and Corujeira de Dentro.
- Routes 021 – Monte (via Largo da Fonte) and 048 – Nazaré/Monte will maintain their normal itineraries. Neither route will hold for schedule adjustments at Monte. Routes 021 and 048 will not stop at the Monte Corujeira PQ (1557) bus stop.
Regarding route 022 – Babosas, it will maintain its normal itinerary until 12:00 PM (noon) on August 14, resuming it at 7:00 PM on August 15. During this period, Largo de Santa Teresinha will serve as the departure and arrival point for the route.
